Privacy Policy for UrWriting

The short version

UrWriting keeps everything on your device.

There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and no analytics. The app contains no networking code at all — it cannot send your information anywhere, because there is nothing in it that could.

Photographs of your notebook pages, the tasks read from them, your habits, your notes to yourself and every figure the app works out are stored on your iPhone and stay there.

The rest of this page explains that in detail, including the one situation where information deliberately leaves the device, and what happens when your phone is backed up.

What is stored on your device

• Photographs of pages you capture, if you choose to keep them. These are

written with complete file protection, which means they cannot be read while your phone is locked. You can view any page later and delete it on its own, keeping every task that was read from it.

• Tasks, their titles, categories, and what happened to each one.
• Day records: whether a list was imported, your evening check-in, the energy

level you recorded, and any notes to yourself.

• Habits and routines, and the schedules you set for them.
• Corrections you make to misread handwriting, so the app reads your writing

better over time. These are words, kept on the device, and are never shared.

All of it lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone. Removing the app removes all of it.

What leaves your device

Two things, both under your control, and neither of them goes to us.

Apple Reminders — only if you turn it on

UrWriting can add the day's unfinished tasks to your Apple Reminders, and mark a task done here when you tick it off there. This is switched off by default.

If you switch it on, task titles and their dates are written into your own Reminders. Reminders then syncs wherever your Reminders normally sync, which for most people means their own iCloud account. That is Apple's service and your account — it does not pass through any server of ours.

iOS does not offer a permission for *only adding* a reminder. Granting Reminders access necessarily grants access to all of your reminders. UrWriting only ever reads back the reminders it created itself.

Shortcuts and Siri

UrWriting makes your day's tasks available to the Shortcuts app, so you can build automations of your own. If you build a Shortcut that sends that information somewhere, that is your Shortcut doing so, under your control. The app itself sends nothing.

Device backups

If you back up your iPhone — to iCloud or to a computer — the app's data is included in that backup, in the same way as any other app's. That backup is Apple's, governed by Apple's terms and your settings, and we have no access to it. You can exclude app data from backups in your iOS settings.

Reading your handwriting

Handwriting recognition runs on your device, using the text recognition built into iOS. Nothing is uploaded to be read.

On devices that support Apple Intelligence, the app may also use the on-device model to tidy up an obviously misread word. This also runs on your device. No part of your page is sent to Apple, to us, or to any other service.

An internet connection is never required to capture, read, or use a page.

The camera

The camera is used only to photograph a page when you ask it to. Nothing is captured in the background, and no photograph is taken without you pressing the button.

Notifications

Any reminders the app sends are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, and no notification is triggered by anyone but you.

Locking the app

You can require Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode to open the app. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS; the app never sees your biometric data or your passcode.

What we do not do

• No account, no sign-in, no user profile.
• No servers, and no networking code of any kind in the app.
• No analytics, tracking, advertising identifiers or crash reporting.
• No third-party SDKs. The app is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks.
• No selling, sharing or transferring of your information — there is nothing to

sell, because we never receive anything.

Your control over your data

• Export everything at any time, in a readable format.
• Delete a page photograph on its own, keeping the tasks read from it.
• Erase everything in one action, which removes every task, day, habit,

correction and photograph from the device.

• Remove the app to remove all of it.

Children

UrWriting is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed. If a future version were ever to send information off the device, it would be explained here and would require your explicit consent first.
